Peer Mentoring

Peer Mentoring - Have you ever had a hard time living in a world not made for people with disabilities? Have you ever wanted to talk to someone who understands what it's like being disabled, who wants to help you? If this describes you, consider joining the Peer Mentoring Program.

Peer Mentoring is an on-going training program that provides individuals or groups of individuals with similar disabilities, who are interested in mentoring, the opportunity to share life experiences and offer support and guidance to each other as well as others with like disabilities.

We will “pair you up” with an individual who has the same or a similar disability as you who has accomplished the goals that you have and want to accomplish.  Your Mentor will work with you by sharing information, personal stories and experience that can help you reach your goals.  Mentors are equipped to assist with employment, educational and independent living goals, as well as a wide variety of other subjects.  All mentors receive training to assist the individuals they are “paired up” with.  If you think you could benefit from either being a mentor or mentee, please contact the Peer Mentoring Program at (904) 399-8484, extension 45, today.  Don't despair.  There are people who care and understand your struggle. The first step to independence is to make the move and contact us today.
